5 Ways to Have Fun in Traffic Jams

Imagine this: You wake up on time for work, get ready, grab a healthy breakfast of cereal and banana, start your car on your merry drive toward work. You’re driving out of your neighborhood, and are suddenly surrounded by cars everywhere, all stuck in place like time has stopped.

That’s right, it’s TRAFFIC. *DUN DUN DUN*

The one word that spikes a huge slash in our awesome day. Even if you only live a few miles away from your work, everyone else is also up trying to get to their 9AM. You might think it’s weird for “traffic jam” and “fun” to be used in the same sentence, but you just gotta get a little creative. For example…

Channel your inner rock star and air drum that wheel like it was made for drumming. Or go with the classic air guitar—just make sure you keep your eyes on the road.

Learn a language or listen to an audiobook. You can buy podcasts of your fave wizard story or have Rosetta Stone teach you how to say, “Tengo hambre.” (translation: I’m hungry).

Create a playlist of your favorite music to sing out loud to on Spotify or Pandora. Pretend like it’s your own mini road trip.

Call your mom or dad and catch them up on your life. Your parents probably miss you. Don’t forget to use a hands-free headset!

Meditate and relax. We spend so much time constantly on the go and worrying about the next thing/future that we sometimes forget to take a moment to take it all in and appreciate all of the opportunities and happiness we have in our lives. Add in a few breathing exercises while you’re at it. So sit back, ignore all the honking, breathe deeply and meditate.
