An Apartment State Of Mind
May 7, 2015
Think back to when you first scraped your knee. Or when you really began liking somebody and didn’t know what to do. Or when you needed advice about life in general.
Who did you turn to first? Chances are, many of you will say your mom.
Moms have this amazing way of being superwomen, even in the most adverse circumstances. What better way to celebrate and let her know you love her (which you should be doing on a daily basis!) than to shower her with love and fun on Mother’s day? This Mother’s day, the best gifts you can give mom are …
YOUR TIME: I know this might sound weird, but think about it for a sec. We go from seeing our moms every day for 18 years of our lives until we’re off to college and then ~poof~ we’re all grown up. If you think for a second your mom isn’t worrying about you every single moment you’re away from her, you’re wrong. Spend time with your mom and really live in the moment (i.e. stay off your phone unless you’re snapping memories with your mom), and appreciate how incredible of a person she is and everything she’s done for you.
MEMORIES: If you have funny pictures from your childhood, recreate those memories as adults for mom. It’s like the ultimate before and after. Or even put together a photo album of old memories—it’s always fun to walk down memory lane.
CLASSES: Take a class with mom. Dance, cooking, Pilates, yoga, weightlifting, boot camp—this falls under the spending time category so no matter what class you choose you’ll both be having fun together.
TALENTS: Ever take any lessons when you were a kid? Show off how much those lessons paid off by making something for mom and performing it—mom-approved, guaranteed.
HIKING/CAMPING: Take mom out to the great outdoors and show her the world. Nature has this awesome way of bringing people closer. You might not have a magic carpet, but she’ll love your company.
Whatever you choose to do or give to her, make sure it’s genuine and given out of love. Life moves so quickly that we sometimes forget to remind those that we care about that we love them.
Happy Mother’s Day, moms. Thanks for being you.
