An Apartment State Of Mind

Do you often find your kitchen countertops getting overloaded with stuff? Or are you constantly having to move everything out of the way just to make room for cooking? We totally understand and often run into those problems as well! It seems like stuff just ends up pilling onto the kitchen counters and you can never control the chaos. Luckily for you, we’re here to help! Time to declutter kitchen countertops!
The first thing you need to do is to take some time to sort through everything and either donate or toss out the stuff you not longer use or need. The next step is to organize your stuff into desired categories and figure out where you want it placed in the kitchen. So, lets say you’ve got a ton of spice jars taking up precious counter space, make a DIY magnetic spice rack and place it near the stove or prep area – cute and practical!
Here are some different items and tools you can use to help organize and tidy up your kitchen while freeing up precious countertop space:
Metal Basket Shelving This organization idea is really great for getting books and other stackable items off your countertops. Using your empty walls is one of the greatest ways to remove clutter from any room in the house.
Under-cabinet Hanging Baskets I love how cute this is! It’s great for storing your essentials, such as sugar, pepper, salt, oil, etc. – the stuff you would usually have on your countertops that always seem to get in the way!
Hanging Mason Jar Storage Not only can you free up your countertops, but you can also make more room in your cabinets if you decide to use this awesome space-saving idea! You can even modify this idea a little and add some magnets to make a spice rack – super cute!
Kitchen Dish Soap Cake Stand I’m definitely making this one when I move into my new apartment – it’s so adorable! I love how it frees up the space around your kitchen sink and also doubles as a little kitchen decor!
Mounted Paper Towel Holder Paper towels definitely waste precious space on your counters! Numbers 1, 2, 4, and 5 are really awesome DIY ideas to get your paper towels off the kitchen countertop and free up some room!
Pegboard Backsplash This is such an awesome idea to create more storage space! You can hang up your cooking utensils or even hang baskets to store little knickknacks in. Pegboard can also be mounted on a regular wall to free up cabinet space by using it to store pots and pans!
