An Apartment State Of Mind

If you ask me, Mardi Gras is one of the more overlooked holidays in our country. A day where you happily eat and drink, celebrate, and wear colorful jewelry? Feathery masks, loud music and the freedom to throw things? Who doesn’t love the opportunity to act like a kid again?
Unfortunately, Mardi Gras, also called “Fat Tuesday”, happens to fall right on a weekday, leaving many of us out in the cold when it comes to celebrations. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a mini celebration in the comfort of your own home! Here are the ingredients for the perfect Mardi Gras celebration on the fly:
–Cajun Jambalaya for dinner (This is my favorite recipe of all time!)
–Don’t forget the perfect Mardi Gras themed cocktail! Try the classic Hurricane or a skinny cocktail!
–Play the perfect Mardi Gras Game:
: You will need a bunch of chocolate gold coins or just fake plastic coins to play, along with some Mardi Gras-themed treat bags. Hide the coins all over your house – as many as you possibly can (100 or more works best) and then have your friends fill their bags with as many coins as they can find. After dinner, the person with the most coins wins a prize!
: Grab some feathers, some glitter, some paper, some glue – anything you can use to make and decorate your own masquerade masks to wear the rest of the evening!
-Don’t forget the decor and favors! Balloons, mardi gras bead necklaces and some purple, green and gold flowers are all you need to make a festive atmosphere.
Enjoy, eat, drink and be merry this Mardi Gras!
