An Apartment State Of Mind
August 29, 2017
The more you fly, the less you want to lug around a heavy set of luggage. We know our residents love to travel while they can. And it being summer, we figured it was the best time to talk about something really important. Carry on luggage! Yes, nowadays, luggage is not just something to carry your belongings in while you travel. It’s a way to stay streamlined, charge your phone while you travel and keep you from getting bogged down when you need to be somewhere fast.
Luckily, there are some new and unique carry on luggage companies out there that are taking a travel necessity to a whole new level and making travel a more pleasurable experience.
The Art of the Carry On Bag
Besides waiting for your luggage to arrive, the fear of it getting lost along the way and of course, the cost of checking in baggage, and yes, over-packing (we’re guilty), carry on luggage is becoming more and more appealing.
Depending on the size of your carry on, it forces you to bring just the essentials. Yet some of the larger carry-on bags hold a surprising amount of clothing, shoes and accessories.
If you often tend to fly short distances on small planes, it’s probably best to get the smallest carry-on available to avoid having to check your bag at the gate. However, if you’re more of an infrequent flyer, taking a long trip here and there, we’d recommend splurging for the bigger carry on that will usually fit into the overhead bins on most jets.
The New and Improved Carry On
Hip
Away Travel is like the new hip girlfriend of carry on luggage. You admire how effortlessly she travels through life. Minimalistic, sleek and durable, Away Travel bags even charge your phone. From personal experience, this was a life saver while traveling this summer. While everyone else was searching for outlets, I charged my phone while walking to my assigned gate and sat where I pleased. It was a nice experience.
Durable
Considering how luggage gets tossed around, durability might be number one on your list of luggage needs. Luckily Brookstone created their Dash line at an extremely reasonable price. It doesn’t come with a phone charger, but starting at only $99, you cannot beat the price. Luggage is not cheap! A good price and durability is a combo that’s hard to say no to.
Sleek
If getting the most stylish bag is your thing, let us introduce you to Raden. Choose from either a matte or gloss finish and from over 10 colors. Did we mention that this bag comes with an app? Yes, it’s totally high tech as well. You can charge your phone, weigh your bag and sync your bag to Bluetooth technology. You might be asking, why would you go with anything else? We’re sort of asking ourselves that as well. This is definitely a bag to consider.
High Tech
Raden has some steep competition with Trunkster. Although Trunkster only comes in black, it stands out because of its zipper-less entry. It has a sleek roll top door that you can open with one swift move. That’s right, no more searching around for zippers or worrying about your zipper getting stuck. Plus it offers a phone charger, integrated scale and global tracking so you don’t have to worry about losing your bag! Wow.
Outdoorsy
Who knew Patagonia made carry on luggage? If adventure travel is your thing, there is no better company to set you up with luggage that will weather any weather. No pun intended. The bag has an outside pocket to hold your boarding pass or according to their video, an energy bar. Yes! Since this carry on doesn’t have a hard top outside, it’s easy to compress and fit into smaller compartments. We can totally see ourselves using this bag on a trip to South America on an Indiana Jones type adventure, a sailing trip or rock climbing. Who’s in?
