An Apartment State Of Mind

Must Have Vintage Accessories for Your Apartment

March 6, 2019

Vintage accessories in the home have definitely been making a comeback in the last decade. Everything from turntables to vintage furniture to even kitchen appliances. If you’re a lover of vintage, chances are you already have some items of your own. Whether you just like your vintage vibes for decor or you’re an avid collector, there are plenty of unique avenues to bring a more vintage feel to your apartment home.

One of the most popular vintage items out there at the moment are record players or turntables. You can buy an actual vintage record player, although it may need a good cleaning and fixing in order to work. Or you can be a new vintage inspired record player and collect vintage records instead. This is one of the best ways to bring in that vintage vibe.

Other popular vintage items are old typewriters that can be used for both decor or if you’re feeling inspired, to actually write. Vintage books and magazines are fun to have on hand. You can frame old magazines and hang them on the wall or just have them around for you or guests to look at. Vintage items that you can actually use are the most fun, and if you love spending your free time reading and have a soft spot for nostalgia, old magazines are awesome for filling that vintage void. Or find vintage movie posts  for wall art.

Where do you find these types of items? An ideal place to start is Ebay, which usually has every imaginable vintage item you can think of. There are also other indie websites that are devoted to selling vintage items. Etsy is also a great place to look online for vintage stuff.

If you’d rather buy in person, it’s a little more difficult to find specific items, but you may find vintage gems at flea markets, garage sales and definitely antique stores.

Lastly, it’s easy to go overboard with collecting a bunch of vintage items that have no relation to each other. If you’re just a collector, go for it, but if you want to incorporate vintage items as decor, find one or two eras to stick with, but don’t go overboard! Your home may end up looking like the Brady Bunch household…well, not that there’s anything wrong with that. Happy hunting!
