Your Guide to Getting the Ultimate Cozy Bedroom

With fall comes chilly weather, which is the best time to find a cozy place to curl up.  We love nothing more than snuggling up in 3 blankets, surrounded by tons of pillows, and maybe cuddling with a dog or two while having a Netflix binge!  If only every single day could be like that – we would be living the dream! Here are the top tips to help you make your bedroom extra cozy this fall:

• Lighting.  First and foremost, lighting!  Lighting is extremely important when creating your ultimate cozy bedroom.  Try to avoid overhead lighting and instead use soft accent and task lighting – fairy lights are also great little touch and look oh-so-cute!  Utilizing candles and allowing natural light to enter the room also creates a very cozy feeling.
• Rugs.  Placing soft, fluffy, plush rugs around your room, especially along the sides of your bed, not only adds texture but also gives your feet something cozy to step on when you wake up in the morning!  Even if your room is already carpeted, rugs can still be used to add that little extra touch of coziness.
• Blankets, blankets, and more blankets.  Blankets are absolutely essential when it comes to having the ultimate cozy bedroom – blankets are the epitome of cozy!  Soft fluffy blankets are our absolute favorites!  We also really love textured knit throws like the ones shown below – ultimate cozy!  Our favorite is the giant knit blanket from Ravelry.
• Pillows.  Lots of pillows on the bed also creates a great sense of coziness, but don’t go too overboard on the pillows or you’ll have nowhere to sleep!  A couple regular size pillows and a handful of throw pillows will do just the job.  Just imagine diving into a pile of soft fluffy pillows – sounds like bliss!
• Canopy bed.  There’s something extremely comforting and cozy about having a canopy bed.  It creates a sense of privacy and you feel like you’re in your own little world – it’s great!  Canopy beds are super easy to DIY and there are so many different styles.  You can fully enclose your bed, have a ceiling canopy, add fairy lights to the canopy, and so much more!
• All white.  Having an all-white bed makes your bedroom feel clean and simple.  Adding touches of neutral colors also adds warmth and coziness.  If you’re not a fan of having an all-white bed, try to use light neutral colors, such as beiges, off-whites, light grays, and light browns – keep it earthy!
