An Apartment State Of Mind
October 28, 2014
You’ve probably heard, but in case you haven’t – Daylight Savings Time ends at 2:00am local time on Sunday, November 2nd, 2014. As the saying goes, spring forward, fall back – which means you’ll be changing your clocks back one hour before you go to bed.
While many love the concept of gaining an hour once a year, many others rue the change. From disrupting children’s sleep schedules to ruining the day of the unfortunate person who forgets to change their alarm clock, Daylight Savings Time is a hotly debated topic whenever it comes up in a group. And for those lucky enough to live in Arizona or Hawaii, they simply laugh and shrug their shoulders – because those two states don’t abide by Daylight Savings at all.
I, for one, am on the “hate it” side. Now that I have a child of my own, I dread the day that 6am becomes 5 am, and my ever-energetic child wakes with a roaring enthusiasm at 5:00 for the entire week to follow. I also loathe leaving work when it is pitch black outside. Based on this, I guess you could say I’m in favor of permanent daylight savings time – standard time just doesn’t work for me!
