Round Up of the Best Healthy Dessert Recipes

September 20, 2016

When you’re craving something sweet after dinner and the only thing in the pantry is a bunch of candy bars – great, how healthy.  I’m pretty sure we’ve all been there!  I was so tired of feeling guilty every time I wanted to eat something sweet, so, after searching high and low, I finally found some incredible healthy dessert recipes.  My favorites are probably the brownies and the banana split!  So, without further ado, I present my top picks for healthy dessert recipes:

  1. Brownies are an all time favorite, but I bet you didn’t know they could be made using some not-so-traditional ingredients.  Some healthy alternatives to traditional brownie recipes include using avocados and black beans!  Avocado brownies are absolutely scrumptious!  Avocados have a ton of health benefits – they contain vitamins, potassium, fiber, and are a source of heart-healthy fats.  Black bean brownies may sound really weird but, trust me, they are so delicious!  Black beans are a great source of protein and fiber, and they’re also great for your bones because they contain iron, calcium, and magnesium – how awesome!
  2. The beloved chocolate chip cookie…  I could probably eat about 10 of them in one sitting – no shame, right?  Well, I would actually have no shame with these flour-less, butter-less, healthy chocolate chip cookies.  These cookies are to die for!  They contain a bunch of goodies, like oats, coconut, banana, and sunflower seeds.
  3. Healthy soft sugar cookies.  Yes, you heard me right; I just said healthy sugar cookies.  I bet you didn’t think it was possible to make sugar cookies that weren’t bad for you!  These cookies are actually an anomaly with zero sugar and zero butter.  They are made with natural sweeteners, oat flour, and coconut oil.    (Featured at the top of the page).
  4. Turn that banana split into a healthy broiled banana split!  Instead of using traditional ice-cream, use your favorite frozen yogurt.  Top it with some toasted almonds, dark chocolate, and raspberries – YUM!
  5. Vegan thumbprint cookies are another great healthy cookie recipe!  They contain zero traces of butter and are naturally sweetened with your choice of maple syrup or brown rice syrup.  For the jam on top of the cookie, try this delicious homemade chia seed raspberry jam – amazing!
