5 Best Fitness Apps for 2016

Fitnet If you’re one of those people who barely have any time in their day to even breathe, then Fitnet can become your absolute best workout buddy.  All you need is 5 minutes and you can fit a daily workout into your hectic schedule; how crazy is that?  What’s even more awesome is that it will give you real-time feedback.  How in the world can an app give you real-time feedback, you ask?  Well it’s super easy.  Just use the camera on your electronic device to video your workouts and the app will be able to analyze how synchronized you are with the trainer in the video.

Freeletics It’s like having a personal trainer in your pocket (how convenient!).  One summer I decided to hire a personal trainer to help me achieve my goals, and man did he do a great job keeping me on track.  I was seeing instant results, but my bank account wasn’t too happy with me.  Working with a personal trainer 3-4 times a week was NOT cheap, so I decided to search for some more affordable alternatives.  I came across Freeletics after a friend suggested it to me and I absolutely can’t get enough!  There are 3 different “topics” to choose from: bodyweight, running, and gym.  They also provide a nutritional guide to help you establish a clean, healthy, and balanced diet to accompany your workout plan to help you reach your goals.

Stronglifts 5×5 You know when you’re at the gym and you have to carry around a notebook and a pencil to record your workouts?  Well StrongLifts 5×5 completely gets rid of that archaic nonsense because it allows you to track your workouts on your phone.  Just 3 exercises, 3 times a week, and each of them only take 45 minutes.  This app is great for guys and gals who are looking to build muscle.  The various workouts consist of 5 free weight compound exercises: squats, bench press, deadlifts, overhead press, and barbell rows.  If you keep up with the workouts, results are fast and so rewarding!

Daily Yoga Whether  you’re a Yoga junkie or just want to have some weekly relaxation time, Daily Yoga is the perfect app to assist you through your Yoga session.  I recently came across this app after I took a Yoga class at the gym and found that it did a great job of relaxing my mind and body.  I wanted to find something that would walk me through a Yoga session in the comfort of my own home and I found just the one!  This app walks you through every pose, helps you set goals and stick to them, and provides relaxing music to help you maintain a calm state of mind.  Their HD videos, along with step-by-step instructions, walk you through every pose.  You can track your progress and caloric information with their health data log.  They also have a community of “yogis” if you enjoy sharing ideas and getting inspiration from others.

Zombies, Run! After reading the name of this app you’re probably thinking to yourself, “what in the world?”, because I sure was!  Zombies, Run! is a weirdly motivating app for walkers, joggers, and runners.  I heard about it when I was listening to the radio one morning and I was so intrigued by it that I decided to give it a shot.  I can honestly say that it did a great job of pushing me beyond my limit.  It did scare me a little bit in the beginning, but how could it not??  I was being chased by zombies!  Overall though, it’s a fun, interactive, and motivating way to keep yourself from slowing down and getting lazy.

Thinking about getting rid of my personal trainer and getting the Fitnet or Freeletics app instead to save some money. Really like the sound of the Daily Yoga app too. Some good ideas in this post!
