With three new Fairfield Residential properties opening soon in the Portland area, we wanted to highlight the amazing Pacific Northwest that will be at our Portland residents’ fingertips. This lush section of the country boasts some of the most amazing scenery in North America. There’s no way to list all of the incredible weekend getaways to be had from Portland, but here are some of our favorites…
Hood River, OR – About an hour from Portland, Hood River is known as the wind surfing capital of the world. This small town boasts a gorgeous river running through the middle. With breweries, eateries, and more outdoor activities than you can imagine, this is a perfect weekend trip for a quick escape from the big city. On the ride out from Portland, enjoy lush hiking with waterfalls plus a stop at the epic Mount Hood on the way back to Portland.
Bend, OR – Head to Bend Brewfest in Bend, OR in the summer to taste over 200 craft beers. While you’re there check out this popular mountain town that’s known for being “the outdoor playground of the west”. This versatile city offers outdoor adventures all year long, including everything from kayaking to snowboarding to cycling and much, much more.
Hoh Rainforest, WA – Visit one of the only rainforests in North America in nearby Washington state at the Hoh Rainforest. Located within Olympic National State Park, this rainforest boasts beautiful green canopies of mosses and ferns due to about 140 to 170 inches of rain a year. Accommodations can be made at the local campground open all year long or in the nearby town of Forks.
Leavenworth, WA – Experience what it would feel like to be in Bavaria in the magical town of Leavenworth in Washington. Surrounded by gorgeous green mountains, the architecture of this small village was literally designed to look like the Bavarian region of Germany complete with festivals and cultural experiences. A far cry from the old railroad town it once was.
Cannon Beach, OR – The coastal route along Cannon Beach is considered one of the most scenic drives in the US. Catch a view of the iconic landmark, Haystack Rock, which offers a variety of wildlife including tide pools, numerous birds, and even puffins. Plus if you grew up watching The Goonies, the town Astoria where the movie was filmed is just a short drive away.
