Pamper Your Pets

March 3, 2017

The services offered to pamper your pets has reached new levels!  From spa packages and pedicures, to massages and so much more – the options are truly endless!  While most of our options are dog-oriented, some can be applied to cats as well.  It’s important to remember that not all dogs and cats will enjoy being pampered and some have different ideas of pampering – romping around in mud versus a day at the spa.  Make sure to assess your pet’s happiness while pampering them!  If they seem stressed and unhappy, stop and give them a break or try something else!

Salon, spa, groomer:

  • Blueberry spa packages
  • Mud baths
  • De-shedding services
  • Nail trims and polish
  • Flea and tick treatments
  • Sugar scrubs
  • Teeth cleaning
  • And SO much more!

Play dates and doggy daycare:

  • Dogs love and need interaction with other dog friends.  Not only is it fun, but it also satisfies their natural tendencies to be part of a pack.
  • Schedule play dates with your friends and family who have dogs, take a trip to the dog park, or drop your fur baby off at doggy daycare for a half- or full-day of endless play!
  • This option is only suitable for dog-friendly dogs.
  • Cats can also benefit from play dates, believe it or not!  Again, your cat must be friendly towards others cats in order for this option to be feasible and fun.

Specialty exercise:

  • Some breeds have natural urges that need to be satisfied.  Whether it’s swimming, hunting, sniffing, or herding, your dog needs an outlet for his instincts.  Some dogs who aren’t able to do what they were bred for can become anxious and stressed which leads to undesirable behavior at home and on walks.
  • For herding breeds, like Border Collies, Corgis, Australian Cattle Dogs, and Shepherds, take them somewhere that offers classes in sheep or duck herding.  You’d be amazed by your dog’s natural ability to herd!
  • For sporting and hunting breeds, like Beagles, Hounds, Spaniels, Retrievers, Setters, and Pointers, take them swimming, scent tracking, lure coursing, retrieving – whatever it is they were bred to do, go do it!
  • Another really fun activity for any energetic and smart dog is agility.  Go take some classes at your local canine training facility!
  • Remember, don’t force your dog do to anything he does’t seem to be enjoying.  Just because he was bred for something doesn’t necessarily mean he will enjoy it.  Just give it a try and see how he does!
  • Also, try mixing it up and doing multiple activities!

Acupuncture, chiropractic, massage:

  • Some pets can really benefit from natural remedies like chiropractic and acupuncture.
  • Massages are also really great for your fur babies!  You can even do this yourself at home and have some one-on-one time with your dog or cat.
