Do you love cheese?  Are you aware that there’s a day created especially for you?  National Cheese Lover’s Day!  Safe to say that there’s plenty of cheese lovers in the city of San Francisco.  With so many gourmet and foodie experiences to tap into, cheese is always at the top of the list within the city by the bay.  Whether you’re local to the city, living in surrounding areas or just traveling through, here we list our four favorite cheese destinations to journey to on National Cheese Lover’s Day on January 20th.

Mission Cheese in the heart of the Mission District boasts a rustic and inviting atmosphere, the perfect place to enjoy an array of cheeses while sipping on wine or craft beer with good friends.

 The Cheese School of San Francisco  Looking for a unique activity centered around cheese?  Look no further this charming cheese institution:

“For you a cheese class begins with a warm welcome and a glass of wine around the hearth. You’ll meet your instructor and mix with some of your fellow students before finding your seats in our classroom. Then your expert and charming instructor will guide you through a two-hour tasting of artisan cheeses.” Plus more…

Bohemian Creamery Looking for an adventure on your way to find amazing cheese?  Located in Sonoma County, this creamery is about an hour and a half out of the city, but near some of the most beautiful scenery on the west coast.  Take a trip to taste one of a kind cheeses named Boho Belle, Cowabunga and Poco Loco.  Their store is open Friday – Sunday, 10-6.  They also do tours by appointment.

Cowgirl Creamery Cheese Shop is located at the famous ferry building located on The Embarcadero in San Francisco.  In addition to the vast variety of cheeses they create, the creamery also has four seasonal cheeses: Chimney Rock for fall, Devils Gulch for winter, St Pat for spring and Pierce Pt for summer all made under head cheese maker, Maureen Cunnie.
