An Apartment State Of Mind
March 13, 2015
What is all this Madness? Well, it’s three weeks of basketball, basketball and more basketball! With terms like bracketology, seeds and sweet 16, it can all be rather confusing. The NCAA tournaments send fans into a frenzy each year and this chaos is what gives the tournament its March Madness nickname. With 68 teams competing to see who is the best college basketball team in the country, the teams are split up into four regions; east, west, midwest, south. Each team is then ranked from 1 to 16 (these are the “seeds”). The four teams that win their region will participate in the Final Four, which is the designated term for the semi-finals. The last team standing after the national championship games and the Final Four will be crowned the NCAA basketball national champion.
When does this Madness begin? The 2015 NCAA Tournament begins on March 17, 2015, and will conclude with the championship game on April 6. Selection Sunday, which is when the teams are announced, takes place on March 15. After that, you’ll only have a couple days to fill in your bracket sheet.
How do I get in on this Madness? You don’t have to sit on the sidelines – fill out a bracket! For those not familiar with college basketball, this task might seem intimidating, but take a chance and have a great time. CBS Sports has a bracket lab that will help you build your bracket.
They call it March Madness for a reason, as things can get pretty hectic. Below are a few ways to stay up-to-date without missing a single moment. Let the madness begin!
