An Apartment State Of Mind
April 10, 2015
You know what’s really cool? The Earth. It’s like this giant planet we all live on together where we get to live our lives all thanks to the big guy: Earth. Food, water, oxygen, anything necessary to live and breathe? Thanks for all of the above and more, Earth—we owe you one.
Such an incredible planet should be celebrated, so mark your calendars for April 22—the official Earth day of the year (although TBH, everyday should be Earth day). It’s a day where we are all reminded of our effect on the great Earth, and how we definitely need to be more aware of our actions.
While we individually cannot save the Earth, together, we can truly make a positive impact. Little things tend to add up to one big thing. Like my good friend Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”
Here are a few tips on how to give a helping hand to Earth not only on Earth day, but for the rest of your lives:
1. Get active: Bike/walk to your destination once or twice a week. Saving the Earth by working out? Totes winning.
2. BYOB: Bring your own BAG. Get crafty and create your own reusable bags for shopping.
3. Eat your veggies:: go vegetarian once a week. It takes approximately 2500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef. Yikes.
4. Turn down (the temp) for what? Earth, that’s what. Wash your laundry in cold water instead of hot.
5. Chug it up in a trendy reusable water bottle. All those other plastic bottles take 450 years to decompose.
6. Quit with the snail mail and receive/pay your bills online. Get with the digital age & save trees + gas.
