An Apartment State Of Mind
July 1, 2016
The smell of burgers grilling, the sight of kids running around in their swimsuits and adults lounging in a deck chair with a drink in their hand, all awaiting the boom of fireworks at nightfall. Yep, you guessed it! The 4th of July is just around the corner. Do you have a menu full of patriotic food and drinks ready? If you’re stumped for ideas, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of 5 drink recipes and 5 food items to help you get the ball rolling.
Quench your Thirst:
What’s a party without some fun, tasty drinks? Am I right?
This kid-friendly layered drink almost looks too fun to drink, especially with those awesome firework straws. Or, serve some non-alcoholic sangria that’s packed with fruit. A snack hidden in a drink – could anything be more perfect?! Also, for a little bonus, these fruit-infused ice cubes are great for chilling any beverage (especially water)!
Now for the more..”adult” options… Red, white and blue sangria that seriously looks so delicious it definitely won’t last even 30 minutes! This stars and stripes bowl is everything you could ever want on a toasty Independence Day; it’s a beautiful globe of slushy goodness! What’s a good summer’s day without watermelon? These watermelon margaritas are a sure crowd pleaser! (Remember to drink responsibly!)
Satisfy your Hunger:
Now, for all those hungry bellies…
This festive 7-layer dip is a great appetizer option and, with all the different layers, it’s sure to please everyone! Another great little appetizer idea are these red, white and blue deviled eggs; YUM.
For a main course, try this blue and white gnocchi with fresh tomato sauce; it looks so refreshing and perfect for a summer get-together.
To satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth, whip up a batch of patriotic brownie bites (not going to lie, I could probably finish the whole tray of these; they look so good!). You could also go with a classic 4th of July Cheesecake, or, if you’re not a fan of cheesecake, just make a regular 3-colored cake!
