An Apartment State Of Mind
October 10, 2017
Some of the best things about living in a modern apartment community are the amenities–especially here at Fairfield Residential, where we try to provide residents with the amenities that make their lives easier. This includes everything from an in-house washer and dryer to lounges & game rooms. One top amenity that will save our residents some cash every month is a top-of-the-line fitness center.
We know how expensive some fitness centers and workout studios can be, some costing upwards of $150/month. But why spend that money (not to mention the time to commute) when you can get everything you need to work out at home. These days, new apartment communities are providing everything from yoga studios to TRX, and even access to a lap pool!
If you’re on the fence about whether to splurge on a gym membership, take a look at the best workouts you can do right at your apartment community before you commit!
Yoga – Our newer apartment communities provide yoga rooms for our residents to do stretching and yoga at their own pace. Yoga is an amazing way to build strength and flexibility. If you’re new to yoga, but don’t want to pay for the high price of a monthly membership, we suggest trying out Yoga Glo to follow online classes.
TRX is suspension training that focuses on your core and building strength and endurance.
Free weights are a great way to build strength. You can target specific muscles to tone. Residents can take advantage of a full set of free weights to use at their disposal.
Elliptical Machine – If you want to get plenty of cardio in your fitness routine without the harsh impact of running on joints, then using the elliptical machines is the way to go. It provides high-intensity low impact cardio.
Lap Swimming – There may be no other exercise more beneficial than swimming. It’s a low impact sport that also builds strength and is ideal for cardio.
Medicine Ball – A medicine ball can be used for a variety of activities for sit-ups and free weights. It’s one of the oldest forms of exercise equipment dating back to the ancient civilizations of Greece and Rome.
Weight Machine – If you’re new to weightlifting, machines are better for beginners because they require less instruction. It’s also great for circuit training which provides a high-intensity workout.
There’s no shortage of workouts you can do right in your apartment community, with no need to pay extra for a membership or drive to the gym. Just take a short walk to your community fitness center or pool, and take advantage of the workout opportunities right at home!
