The 12 Best Indoor and Outdoor DIY Apartment Gardens

When you live in an apartment, having a garden seems impossible.  Well, we’re about to make the impossible, possible!  There are so many different ways to bring life to your apartment – both indoors and on your patio or balcony.  We’ve gathered some really awesome ideas to help you make the most pleasing apartment gardens.

 

Indoor:

  1. When you’re low on space, go vertical! This DIY hanging herb garden is so perfect and simplistic, plus, you’ll never have to buy herbs ever again!
  2. A garment rack hanging garden is so easy, adds so much character to your small space, and is super customizable.
  3. Similar to the hanging herb garden, this DIY vertical plant hanger is simple, easy, elegant, and saves space.
  4. A mini greenhouse is so cute and takes very little effort. It’s perfect spot is definitely on an unused window sill.
  5. This IKEA cart succulent garden is one of my favorites! There isn’t much to it, yet it dramatically brightens up the room, plus, succulents are so easy to care for!
  6. I swear there are a million uses for old pallets, including a vertical pallet garden – so elegant and rustic.

Outdoor:

  1. Grow your own salad on a window sill with this window box lettuce.
  2. Just because you’re lacking space doesn’t mean you can’t have a nice little veggie garden. Try growing you veggies in rain gutters – so easy!
  3. I really don’t think it gets much simpler than using a vertical shoe organizer to plant your garden.
  4. Hang clay pots from the ceiling of your balcony or patio – it adds just a little bit of privacy too.
  5. This hanging chandelier planter is by far my favorite idea for an outdoor garden – it’s beyond cute!
  6. I have always been obsessed with water container gardens. I don’t know why I love them so much – they’re so simple and beautiful.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Buying pots can get expensive. Get creative with your containers and planters – reuse old coffee cans or cheap mugs and bowls.
  • There are so many different healthy fruits and veggies you can grow in pots – the options are unlimited!
  • Succulents are extremely low maintenance, but here are some tips for helping them grow properly.
